What’s on Seniors’ Minds These Days?

2023 continues to be a very challenging year. Seniors are facing many decisions, some of which they may have had to face in prior decades, some decisions new to others. In the past, war and global discontent has caused many seniors hardships. It seems Ukraine is facing discourse today. Seniors who lived through the past wars have seen this and have memories of which may not be happy ones. We are witnessing a continuing health challenge called Covid, it is rearing its ugly head with new strains of the disease. In my opinion the fast tracking of protection in the name of vaccines has not had enough length of time to reap the benefits and deaths and furthering health conditions are now seen with some of the vaccines used. But science goes on.

Some seniors face the issue of lack of money to live comfortable in retirement. Inflation is causing prices of commodities to rise, therefore costs of things like groceries, utilities, and even mortgages are rising. And seniors are not known to ask for handouts when facing these type of situations. Does this dilemma bring us to the topics of relocation, downsizing, selling assets or giving up some of the types of enjoyment we have experienced in the past? We’re talking destination vacations, Snowbirds extended vacations, 2nd vehicles, smaller accommodation needs, etc. I think these topics are on many seniors’ minds; and having someone to talk to is key to their continuation of a happy life. Be that person that is open to hearing of someones’ hardships and lending a comfort level to their mindset.
